Nettle & I

Wednesday, November 8 , 7:30 pm 9:00 pm

This is an autobiographical story about a life-changing interspecies friendship. Laura, the author and director of the play, met a nettle plant during her studies at Schumacher College in Devon.

From the scepticism of the first encounter, to their deep relationship which taught Laura about the meaning of life, the play shows that we humans certainly don’t end at the skin.

On stage are four performers: two musicians giving voice to the plant, a nettle plant and a human actor.

The musicians are the duo Sara Evans and Damien Papin of Keryda. They will generate music from the nettle using sensors which detect electrical activity in the plant. Damien plays cello and Sara plays Celtic harp.

The human actor Alessandro Guetta will be playing a part that represents Laura’s role in the story in a gender-neutral fashion.

Tickets are pay-what-you-can by donation. Admission fees help cover the cost of the show, and make possible future community ecotheatre workshops, youth activities and performances.

We kindly thank our sponsors Findhorn Bay Holiday Park.

Please note that this play is brought to you by Theatre of the 7 Directions and Teatro del Buratto. All ticket sales are online only, via Eventbrite.
