Martin Stephenson & The Daintees

Sunday, October 22, 2023 , 7:30 pm 9:00 pm

County Durham singer-songwriter Martin Stephenson’s early love of music led to the formation of the first Daintees line-up in his early teens. His path was destined to be a lifelong journey through the music he loved: folk, ragtime, jazz, rockabilly, show tunes, punk-pop and country. Eventually, this glorious collision of styles would become the trademark which Martin has carried through his career.

Martin formed his band The Daintees, who became busking sensations. The band, and indeed Martin, have always been known for their incredible range of styles, each album covering a multitude of genres, tempos and moods. The Daintees went on to release four critically acclaimed albums including Boat To Bolivia, Gladsome Humour and Blue, Salutation Road, and The Boy’s Heart.

They will be performing songs from their stunning new album You Belong To Blue, along with many classics.

Martin Stephenson and The Daintees performances are an exuberant tour-de-force combining heart-warming intimacy with playful humour and warm self-deprecation.

“… builds bridges between love and hate, between cradle and grave, between folk and pop, between past and present.” – NME

“… they [The Daintees] exude so much warmth and charm that you walk away wishing good to all mankind and wanting to hug everyone you encounter.” – Rockshot Magazine

* We are offering a free carer/companion ticket for any disabled or wheelchair-user audience members throughout our shows this season. Wheelchair access, or entry for people with a disability is available from the side entrance, by the Phoenix Café.

Tickets for our Autumn/Winter 2023 events can also be purchased in person at the Phoenix Shop, Findhorn. These will be available for purchase from early August.

Please note that there will be dancing at this event. The front two rows of seating will have ‘reserved for audience who wish to dance/restricted viewing’ signage. The show will run straight through with no interval (approx 1 hour 20 min) so the Phoenix Cafe will not be open for this event.
