Winter 2017/18

Details of some of the concerts and films in winter 2017/8 are now posted below - scroll down to reveal.  All films will be £5 entry (one price) and all will have subtitles in English as a policy for this season – even those shot in English. This is to give access to those with some hearing loss and to a sizeable minority in our audience who have English as a second language. But of course we encourage those of you with normal hearing to attend and support this inclusive plan. If you have feedback about this experiment let us know uhallpromo@gmail.com  More details will appear soon of the 2018 season of concerts and public events which start in February 2018. Details of the highly recommended Rich Hall gig are already listed. The Shee (music) Fri 14th April, 8pm

Friday, April 14, 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

The all-female, folk and bluegrass band, The Shee, met on the Folk and Traditional Music Degree course at Newcastle University in 2006. Having reached the ten-year milestone in their action-packed career, they’re celebrating with a brand new body of original work. Following three albums and a hectic touring schedule over the past decade, the six members of the band each commissioned a Folk Music hero, to write an original piece of music for their fourth album ‘Continuum’. This was premiered at their sell out concert at Celtic Connections 2016.
